GoGrid Adds the Power of New Relic's RPM

New Relic recently announced RPM (Rails Performance Management) support for the GoGrid Cloud Hosting Infrastructure.  GoGrid customers will now be able to harness the awesome power of RPM's Java, Ruby, and JRuby application monitoring and management.  RPM products can be used on-demand (SaaS) to optimize, monitor and troubleshoot applications within a variety of environments, now including the GoGrid Cloud.

New Relic takes a fresh look at application performance management by focusing on easy deployment with no customization or reconfiguration required (this includes cloud deployment) and providing services that are affordable and instantly available.  RPM integrates well with many development tools and allows users to do more performance analysis and optimization as they move up in service plan options.  For basic monitoring, RPM Lite is available to download and keep for free.  More detailed analysis tools and troubleshooting helpers are available in the Bronze and Silver editions.  The Gold and Enterprise editions focus on proactive optimization for large numbers of application hosts.  For any version, installation of the RPM agent takes only a few minutes.

RPM Service Plan Tiers

RPM puts more focus on deployment frameworks as opposed to specific middleware products or underlying operating systems.  New Relic says this plan allows RPM to increase value for applications owners over time and to add support for other deployment frameworks.  Here are some of the platforms supported by RPM:

  • GoGrid
  • Tomcat, Jetty, JBoss
  • WebLogic
  • WebSphere
  • GlassFish
  • The Mongrel HTTP
  • The Litespeed web server
  • Phusion Passenger
  • The Thin Ruby HTTP Daemon

Bill Lapcevic, New Relic’s VP of business development says,“New Relic RPM is the only enterprise-class application management tool delivered as a service, and that automatically offers the same monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities for web applications deployed on both virtual and dedicated servers. Its a perfect fit for GoGrid’s customers.”  GoGrid offers traditional infrastructure environments, public clouds, private clouds, and hybrid hosting solutions that privately connect cloud front-ends with dedicated back-end infrastructures. New Relic RPM operates in both cloud and dedicated server environments, so it can utilize any GoGrid deployment.

GoGrid customers are eligible for a preferred partner discount on RPM pricing and a complementary trial of RPM Gold. For discounted pricing, GoGrid customers can visit New Relic’s GoGrid partner page, select a subscription level, then sign up for RPM.  The discounts will be applied automatically.
